OPENING CEREMONY OF VIETNAM INTERNATIONAL PAPER AND PACKAGING EXHIBITION 2025

The Vietnam International Paper and Packaging Exhibition (VPPE 2025), held from May 7 at WTC Expo in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong, showcased the sector’s transition toward sustainable and smart manufacturing. Organized by the Vietnam Packaging Association, the three-day event gathered over 250 booths and nearly 500 brands from more than 15 countries and territories, positioning itself as a strategic platform for global networking and technological exchange.

Exhibitors introduced a wide array of advanced technologies, including automated paper production lines, eco-friendly printing systems, paper bag manufacturing machinery, wastewater recycling solutions, and sustainable surface treatment chemicals. The strong international presence—with participants such as Konica Minolta, Andritz, OKI, Pulppy, and Polystron—alongside leading Vietnamese firms like Liksin, An Lạc Labels, Khai Tue, MCCAL, and Sunrise, reaffirmed Vietnam’s appeal as a rising manufacturing hub amid global supply chain shifts.

At the opening ceremony, Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong People’s Committee, emphasized that VPPE 2025 not only promoted investment and supporting industries, but also encouraged enterprises to adopt green technologies and improve competitiveness. Binh Duong, as one of Vietnam’s top industrial centers with nearly 30 industrial parks and over 4,100 foreign-invested projects, sees the paper packaging sector as a crucial contributor to export-oriented industries such as textiles, electronics, food, and furniture—where demand for biodegradable and recyclable materials is rising rapidly.

In parallel with the exhibition, VPPE 2025 also hosted a series of technical seminars on digital transformation, energy efficiency, export packaging standards, and sustainable transition in supporting industries. A dedicated conference explored the alignment of Vietnam’s packaging industry with stricter environmental and origin-tracing requirements under new-generation FTAs.

A key feature of the event was the Vietnam Packaging Awards 2025, honoring innovations in design, use of recycled materials, and production efficiency—particularly supporting start-ups and SMEs aiming to thrive in the multi-billion-dollar packaging market. The event also witnessed the signing of numerous cooperation agreements between Vietnamese firms and international technology providers, reinforcing their readiness to meet global standards.

With the country’s net-zero target set for 2050, Vietnam’s paper and packaging industry is poised for continued growth through investment in renewable materials, recycling technologies, and circular economy models. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, exports of paper and related products exceeded USD 2 billion in 2024, with annual growth averaging 10–12% over the past five years. The paper packaging market alone is projected to reach USD 3.5 billion by 2026, driven by the shift away from plastics and the boom in e-commerce.
