MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WORKS WITH BINH DUONG ON DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT

On the morning of May 12, a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Technology, led by Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong, held a working session with the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province to discuss the development of digital technology industries. Welcoming the delegation were Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. Also in attendance were Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Board of Becamex IDC, and leaders of related departments and agencies.

At the meeting, Binh Duong authorities reported that the province has actively planned development zones for concentrated information technology and innovation hubs in Thu Dau Mot City, Di An City, Tan Uyen City, and Bau Bang District. Notably, the province is developing a 220-hectare Science and Technology Park, including a 15.47-hectare concentrated IT zone recently approved by the Deputy Prime Minister. This area is planned with startup and innovation support models such as FabLabs, TechLabs, and Block71, and dedicates 50 hectares to the semiconductor industry and another 50 hectares to sectors like electronics, electrical devices, software, and small-scale hardware production.

In recent years, Binh Duong has strengthened international cooperation with cities and global organizations to advance digital and semiconductor technologies. The province has also attracted major enterprises in this field, including FPT and CT Group, to invest and contribute to its transformation into a digital economy.

Speaking at the session, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex IDC, shared the group’s commitment to supporting the province’s innovation initiatives and collaborating on infrastructure and technological ecosystem development.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong praised Binh Duong’s achievements in science, technology, and innovation. He urged the province to maintain close cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Technology to implement strategic tasks and conduct regular evaluations to ensure effective outcomes.

At the session, Binh Duong leaders proposed that the Ministry accelerate the completion of mechanisms, financial frameworks, and human resource development to support investor attraction in the concentrated IT and science parks. They also requested support for building an innovation ecosystem, including business incubators, startup support centers, laboratories, R&D centers, coworking spaces, and communities for technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Before the meeting, the delegation conducted field visits to several industrial zones, enterprises, and Eastern International University to gain practical insights into the local innovation landscape.
