BINH DUONG PROVINCIAL DELEGATION ATTENDS 2024 TOP 1 SMART COMMUNITY RECOGNITION CEREMONY
On the evening of November 4, a delegation from Binh Duong province, led by Mai Hung Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee and Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, attended the World Smart Community Summit and the 2024 Top 1 Smart Community Recognition Ceremony in Barcelona, Spain. The delegation also included Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex IDC, along with leaders of departments and sectors in the province.
At the ceremony, Curitiba city, Brazil was honored by ICF as the Top 1 Smart Community in the world for 2024.
Speaking at the ICF (Intelligent Community Forum) Summit, Mr. Dung emphasized that thanks to the flexibility of the province and the efforts by Becamex IDC, along with the solidarity of the local people and business community, Binh Duong has implemented and developed strategic projects that have been highly regarded by the ICF judges. This has led to Bình Dương’s recognition as the Top 1 Smart Community in the world for 2023.
The Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee affirmed: “Achieving the ICF Top 1 recognition provides an opportunity and motivation for Binh Duong to build a new development strategy that aligns with international standards and the province’s smart urban development goals. The goal is to balance economic growth with social progress and green development, focusing on people and businesses as the core toward the shared prosperity for the local community in particular and for Vietnam in general. Mr. Dung also shared information at the summit about Binh Duong’s 2021-2030 provincial master plan, with a vision to 2050.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Long, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, shared that Binh Duong is moving towards becoming a center for research and development in science, technology, innovation, and high-quality human resources training. With major investments in a new-generation industrial ecosystem, including science and technology centers, business parks, IT zones, and startup incubators, and with a focus on attracting research institutes and universities, Binh Duong is steadily solidifying its position in the future of Vietnam’s high-tech landscape.
In the coming years, Binh Duong will enhance investments in strengthening scientific and technological capabilities and fostering innovation. The province aims to boost R&D activities with an emphasis on applied research and the commercialization of scientific and technological outcomes. Binh Duong is also focused on developing human resources in science and technology by linking education with science, technology, and innovation, enabling a workforce capable of mastering, developing, and transferring advanced technologies.
Simultaneously, Binh Duong is working on the planning and establishment of an innovation zone and building a comprehensive startup ecosystem within the province. The province also aims to expand international cooperation in research, development, application, and technology transfer, fostering opportunities for universities and scientific organizations to strengthen both domestic and international partnerships.
