BINH DUONG PROVINCE EXPLORES ESTABLISHMENT OF INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
In a significant move to bolster educational and technological collaboration, Mai Hung Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee, met with Madan Mohan Sethi, the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, on August 22. The discussion focused on the potential establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Binh Duong province, a development poised to strengthen ties between India and Vietnam.
During the meeting at the Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center, Mr. Dung provided an overview of the province’s socio-economic achievements, highlighting its successful hosting of the 2023 Horasis Asia Meeting. This event underscored Binh Duong’s emerging role as a hub for business and investment, further enhancing its appeal as a site for new educational ventures.
Expressing appreciation for the province’s development trajectory, Mr. Madan articulated India’s interest in establishing an IIT in Binh Duong. The IITs, renowned globally as premier institutions for engineering and technology education, are poised to bring their expertise to Vietnam. The proposed IIT in Binh Duong would focus on training high-quality human resources in key areas such as information technology, mechanics, and high-tech industries, aligning with the province’s growth aspirations.
In addition to discussing the potential IIT establishment, Mr. Madan proposed the creation of short-term exchange programs. These programs would facilitate engineering and technology students from both countries to study, intern, and engage in cultural exchanges, thereby deepening the educational and cultural ties between Vietnam and India.
This potential collaboration marks a significant step forward in the multi-faceted relationship between the two nations, particularly in education, culture, and economics. The establishment of an IIT in Binh Duong could serve as a cornerstone for innovation and development, benefiting both countries and the broader region.
