BINH DUONG PARTNERS WITH GERMANY’S FRAUNHOFER ENAS TO ESTABLISH MICROELECTRONICS RESEARCH CENTER
The southern province of Binh Duong has achieved an important milestone in its high-tech development path with Becamex IDC Corporation signing a cooperation agreement with Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS to establish a microelectronics research center in the province.
This collaboration is anticipated to create a strong foundation for Vietnam’s deeper integration into the global semiconductor value chain, supporting the growth of high-value-added technology sectors that meet the demands of the new development stage.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex IDC, stated that the agreement goes beyond typical cooperation, marking a strategic move to connect with top European scientists and research institutions. The center will adopt the Fraunhofer innovation model, known for its adaptability and capacity to foster technological breakthroughs.
Professor Harald Kuhn, Director of Fraunhofer ENAS, underscored the critical role of semiconductors in driving innovation across key sectors like smart mobility, aerospace, and smart manufacturing. He emphasized that microelectronics acts as a catalyst for the advancement of these high-tech industries.
The establishment of the Microelectronics Research Center is seen as crucial for attracting business investment. It is expected to serve as a key magnet for major semiconductor companies looking to invest in both Binh Duong and Vietnam.
