BECAMEX IDC HOSTS CHINA DELEGATION FOR FREE TRADE ZONE COLLABORATION
On the morning of April 14, at the WTC Tower, Becamex IDC warmly welcomed the delegation from the China Center for Special Economic Zone Research, led by Professor Tao Yi Tao – Director of the Center – for a working visit and exchange session.
Representing Becamex IDC was Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex, along with senior executives of the company. Attending the meeting were Ms. Ha Thanh – Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nguyen Viet Long – Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Lai Van Dat – representative of the Department of Finance, and leaders of other provincial departments and agencies.
In his remarks, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung emphasized Binh Duong’s pioneering role in developing an integrated model of industry, urbanization, and innovation. He highlighted the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) as a strategic next step to elevate Binh Duong’s position in the global value chain. He also affirmed that the visit by Professor Dao and the delegation was a valuable opportunity for both sides to exchange knowledge and experiences in the development of FTZs – an important driver of economic growth in many countries.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai – Chief Architect of Becamex IDC – delivered a detailed presentation on the FTZ development plan in Binh Duong. His presentation included an overview of the FTZ model within the innovation ecosystem, priority sectors, incentive policies, and proposed investment attraction strategies in the context of digital transformation and sustainable development.
Professor Tao Yi Tao expressed his strong impression of Becamex IDC’s leading role in developing industrial infrastructure and forward-thinking urban planning in Binh Duong – critical foundations for building a Free Trade Zone, advancing the green economy, and embracing the digital age. He expressed a desire to establish a long-term cooperative relationship between CCSEZR and Becamex IDC, aiming to share experience and support Binh Duong in developing its FTZ model, promoting trade, attracting high-quality investment, and enhancing international integration.
During the meeting, both parties engaged in an active discussion, with insightful contributions from Chinese experts on regulatory frameworks, infrastructure connectivity, and successful SEZ models in Shenzhen, Xiamen, and Hainan. Both sides expressed a strong interest in continuing collaboration through in-depth research, technical consultation, and joint efforts to develop a breakthrough, flexible and globally aligned FTZ model for Binh Duong.
In the afternoon, Becamex IDC arranged a field trip for the delegation to key industrial zones such as VSIP II and III, the surrounding area of the LEGO factory – LEGO’s first carbon-neutral manufacturing facility worldwide – and the proposed FTZ site in Tan Uyen City. The tour provided the delegation with a comprehensive overview of Binh Duong’s modern industrial infrastructure and reinforced confidence in the province’s potential to successfully develop a Free Trade Zone in the near future.
